Creedence Clearwater Revival
Last Exit - 04-07-1971, Fillmore West
So Many Roads to Soothe My Soul
1971
For as great a band as Creedence Clearwater Revival was, they were not a great live performance band. Their set lists typically varied little and their arrangements and performances of songs even less. The band's Woodstock appearance is notable historically, but not exceptionally well performed or captured, though it had its moments (a ferocious "Born on the Bayou"). Nevertheless, here the band finds itself at another historic fork-in-the-road, the closing of the famous Fillmore West, which coincides with CCR disbanding a year later. "Door to Door" sucked in the studio and live, foreshadowing the inevitable coming end. The band was on its way out, having been the greatest singles band ever. This show is of interest, but not that much.
